Get Ready to Learn: Essential Mariners Learning System Online Course and Testing Requirements

🌐 General Information  

You can access your online course from a computer, smartphone, or tablet - anywhere you have an internet connection. Our flexible platform provides a true Anytime, Anywhere, Any Device learning experience.

With our mobile app, you can even take quizzes offline, giving you complete 360° learning freedom.


🌍 Web Browser 

Keeping your web browser up to date ensures the smoothest course experience.

✅ We strongly RECOMMEND using Google Chrome as your primary web browser for our courses. You can download this browser for free here.

You can also use the following web browsers:  

We DO NOT recommend using the following web browsers:  

  • Microsoft Edge 
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 

These browsers often cause compatibility issues and may interrupt your learning.


🔊 Audio 

Most lessons include audio narration, and some include videos. All you need is:

  • Built-in speakers

  • Earbuds or headphones (optional - great for studying in noisy environments)


📡 Internet Connection 

If you can comfortably watch a YouTube video, you should be able to view course videos without trouble. If your Internet connection is unpredictable, you can still work through lessons and quizzes, but you may need a little patience.

Minimum Recommended Speeds

  • 10 Mbps of download
  • 5 Mbps of upload
  • Ethernet connection is recommended for stability (especially during testing)

Online Testing

⚠ IMPORTANT: Online testing MUST be done on a DESKTOP or LAPTOP with a camera and microphone.

❌ Not Supported for Testing

  • Tablets

  • iPads

  • Chromebooks

  • Smartphones

  • Linux operating system

Other device requirements for online testing include: 

  • Up-to-date computer and web browser software 
    • Mac: macOS 11 to 26.0+ 
    • Windows: 11 or 10* 
      • Windows 10S/SE and 11S/SE is not a compatible operating system 
  • Minimum of 4GB RAM
  • Hard Disk Space
    • Mac: 400 MB 
    • Windows: 300 MB
  • Ethernet is recommended, as it provides a stronger, more reliable, and faster Internet connection
